Some funders offer a credit appeal process, participating banks currently include AIB, Bank of Ireland, and Permanent TSB. How the Process Works:
- Internal Bank Appeal: Initially, if your credit application is declined, you should appeal through the bank’s internal appeals process.
- Credit Review Application: If the internal appeal is unsuccessful, you can apply for an independent review by Credit Review.
- Assessment and Outcome: Credit Review will conduct an impartial evaluation of the bank’s decision. If they believe the lending could have been made within acceptable risk boundaries, they will recommend the bank provide the credit.
While Credit Review cannot force a bank to lend, over 80% of the business owners they’ve supported have had unfavourable credit decisions overturned.
